BOUTIQUE FITNESS
DIFC, Dubai
When we first got the opportunity to design the gym at Limestone House, the vision was clear: dynamism, mood lighting, young spirits, fit bodies, and conversations that spark energy. The original space, a big rectangular shell was a blank canvas just waiting to come alive.
We stripped it down to its core and started fresh. I wanted the backdrop to feel raw yet refined, so we went for concrete like flooring and cement walls which were perfect foundations for bolder moves. The standout? A custom graffiti wall that I commissioned from a local artist. It speaks directly to the vibrant, urban pulse of the building. We leaned two oversized mirrors against it, surrounded by indirect lighting to intensify the impact.
Full height mirrors line the remaining walls, not just to expand the space, but to reflect and amplify the artwork’s energy. On one side, a row of façade columns created an architectural beat. I angled the mirrors forward there to heighten the rhythm and inject some drama.
Lighting was critical. I designed custom wooden beams suspended obliquely from a charcoal black ceiling to visually widen the space and play with shadow and light. And for the weights area, we went bold, coating the entire zone in a deep petrol blue to match the drive and passion of the gym-goers.
